Trenchless Solutions Limited was contracted to install new sections of gravity drainage using trenchless techniques at Liverpool Shopping Park, Edge Lane. The project required a high level of installation accuracy to accommodate DN150 and DN300 vitrified clay jacking pipes beneath a busy retail environment.
The site presented a number of challenges, including restricted access, proximity to existing services, and the need to minimise disruption to surrounding businesses and infrastructure. A trenchless approach using a PERFORATOR GmbH Guided Auger Boring system was selected to minimise surface disruption and ensure precise line and level control.
Working on behalf of Stainforth Construction LLP, Trenchless Solutions Limited completed the installation of two drives, consisting of 18 linear metres of DN150 and 18 linear metres of DN300 Naylor Denlok vitrified clay jacking pipe.
The works were carried out using a guided auger boring technique, incorporating optical electronic navigation to maintain accuracy throughout the installation. The operation involved a pilot bore followed by auger boring and installation of the product pipe via a controlled jacking process.
All works were completed within confined shaft locations, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area while maintaining strict control of line, level, and gradient.
