Project Overview
A 15 metre section of DN150 vitrified clay foul water sewer at a depth of 6 metres had collapsed
causing the sewer to flood.
Description of Works
After detailed investigation into various trenchless options TSL was instructed in August 2023 to
pipe burst and replace the damaged section of pipe. Sections of 10mm rebar was pushed through
the collapsed pipeline using the Poweram 1915 Rod Pusher Machine. A 19mm steel wire was
attached to the rebar and pulled back into the manhole. A Tric V24 Rope Bursting System was
situated on the manhole base and the 19mm rope attached. A bursting head and first section of
160mm Condor Polypropylene pipe attached to the trailing end of the rope in the downstream
manhole.
The rope was pulled in by the Tric V24 System through the existing pipeline bursting the VC pipe in
to the pipe bedding and pulling the new pipe into the void. Further sections of pipe were attached
until the new pipeline reached the upstream manhole.
