Piloting using the PBA155ton Guided Auger Boring Machine

1st stage of the 74m DN700 pipeline to be installed using Guided Auger Boring techniques.

Finding boulders before we begin

Working the 155ton machine from a 4m diameter cassion shaft

The target is being relayed back to the monitor in the shaft, this enables the machine operator to steer the pilot bore to very accurate line and grade.

The mts Perforator PBA85V guided thrust boring system (pull back technique) was used to install 700m of gravity sewer in Scarborough. 180mm SDR11 black PE pipe was installed to "straight" accurate line and gradient in various drive lengths betweeen 55 to 65 metres.
